The Zenoah G23LH is a 2 stoke engine. Replacing the G2D, this model, generally referred to as "the LH", was the power-plant for many Gopeds, including the Goped Sport, Goped Liquimatic, Goped Bigfoot, Goped X-Ped.

AvailabilityEdit

The Engine. It is still fairly easy to get one new, but will begin to be difficult due to Goped switching there main powerplant source of Zenoah of Japan to more cost effective Taiwanese built Chung Yang(CY) engines of a slightly higher spec.

Parts and Service. Parts are abundant since the engine has been deployed since 1995. In 1995, Goped transitioned from the Zenoah G2D straight plug engines to the Zenoah G23LH.

Maintenance.' On a completely stock G23LH maintenance is minimal. After every 100 hours of use, clean the air filter, check the spark plug for signs of wear and if wear is visible replace with N.G.K BPMR7A or equivalent. Check fan cover and air filter for debris and check clearance between magneto and flywheel. Clearance should be about business card thickness, after that you should be good for another 100+ hours of riding.

ReliabilityEdit

With a non-adjustable barrel carburetor, 2 piston rings, and a hefty exhaust gasket, the LH is arguably the most reliable engine on a stand-up scooter. The G23LH is designed to be run full-throttle until it is out of fuel without the risk of an engine seizure. This engine can take some serious abuse but if taken care of can almost live forever.

Remember a stock engine will outlast a lightly modified engine, a lightly modified engine will outlast a moderately modified engine, and a heavily modified engine will breakdown before any of the above need to fill up the next tank of gas.
